Pundit Kenny Miller was startled by Dujon Sterling’s red card against Aberdeen.

The midfielder, who was substituted after 75 minutes, lasted only 13 minutes on the field before being sent off.

With 88 minutes played, Sterling lunged into a challenge on Jack Mackenzie, and Don Robertson quickly showed him red card.

However, it appeared that the midfielder would be allowed to return after VAR Greg Aitken requested an on-field review for Robertson.

Robertson, on the other hand, remained firm in his choice and directed Sterling up the tunnel.

Replays of the incident indicated speed in the challenge, although Sterling’s tackle may not have been as high as initially assumed, as he caught Mackenzie on the top of the boot.

Miller, a Sky Sports co-commentator, remarked, “He was going in very, very fast.” I don’t think Mackenzie’s reaction has helped his case.

“That was not a red card. He’s slid in, his feet aren’t too high, and he may have caught him on the top of the toe.

“I do not believe that is a straight red card. I believe he has slid as well.

“It’s not high; it’s not even high on the leg, so I don’t think it’s a red card.

“I think this will be overturned.”

As Robertson affirmed that his decision would stand, Miller said, “I must say I am surprised because Sterling has caught him off guard.” Very amazed that wasn’t overturned.”
