“The race is sealed” – Fabrizio Romano confirms Lawrence Shankland‘s summer transfer to Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers has absolutely shattered whatever hopes Celtic had of signing Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland in January.

The Scotland international leads the Scottish Premiership in goals this season, with 27 across all competitions.

However, with Shankland’s Tynecastle contract expiring in 18 months, rumours circulated in January that a move to Celtic or Rangers was likely.

Rodgers was eventually able to get the striker he wanted when Adam Idah, on loan from Norwich City, arrived.

However, with the Hoops’ defence unable to contain the prolific scorer on Sunday,

Rodgers’ exaggeration of the Hearts captain’s achievements this season during the team’s pregame news conference fueled further speculation.

When asked if he kept Shankland quiet during their trip to Gorgie, the Celtic manager replied, “I love watching him.”

“He was a player that was talked about when I first arrived here, and I had heard fantastic things about him.

After returning, he can now be seen playing in the Premier League; he appears to be a child who is completely concentrated on the game.

“He has excellent technique and uses his body effectively to protect the ball.”

He scores goals with both his left and right feet and is skilled in the air. So he’s a pretty talented player.

As you say, he’s someone we need to manage effectively.

When asked if “on the radar” meant Rodgers had “considered putting a bid in,” the Celtic manager responded with a single word and a shake of his head. He said bluntly: “No.”
