DONE DEAL: Finally, Liverpool signs Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon for £100 million as their first signing.

One of Newcastle United’s best players this season is Anthony Gordon, but Liverpool, who has
been linked to a spectacular move, may put the Magpies’ determination to the test.

This season, the 23-year-old has scored 11 goals in 47 games for the Magpies, which is his best
season in the highest level of football.
Gordon, who came through the Goodison Park youth team ranks, left his boyhood club Everton to relocate to St James’ Park in January 2023.
He moved to the North East for an alleged £40 million upfront, with add-ons potentially costing
£45 million.
Gordon has scored 12 goals in 63 games since joining Eddie Howe’s team, and this current season
is his most productive in English football history.
Gordon, who also made his England debut this season, may be included in the Three Lions squad
that Gareth Southgate selects for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Germany.
The attacker’s contract with Newcastle expires in the summer of 2026, but Liverpool is reportedly interested in the former Toffees player as they want to balance the books and may have to trade one
of their key players, per a Daily Star report.
Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Anfield this summer naturally indicates that Liverpool is considering their options for the club’s next manager.
Formerly strongly linked to the position were Sporting Lisbon’s Rúben Amorim and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, but Feyenoord’s Arne Slot seems to be the clear choice to succeed Klopp.
But it looks like Liverpool will need to have a lot of money if future Kop manager Slot wants Gordon
to be one of his first summer additions when he restructures the team.

According to the source, Newcastle would need to accept an offer of about £100 million before they would be willing to consider keeping Gordon.
