Jamie Vardy’s wages have been upped after Leicester City informed him of a ‘daft’ contract decision

Leicester City have been informed it would be “daft” not to offer Jamie Vardy a new deal.

Foxes manager Enzo Maresca has already hinted that Vardy will be granted a new contract at the King Power Stadium after leading the club to the Championship title and back to the Premier League this season, and Vardy has made it clear that he has no plans to retire this summer.

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock believes it would be silly for Leicester to let 37-year-old Vardy, who has scored 20 goals this season, go when his current deal expires at the end of the season, but he believes Vardy will have to accept reduced earnings to continue with the club.

“I think you would be daft to get rid of him,” the man remarked. “He understands the Premier League, he has a winning mentality, and he is well-liked in the dressing room, according to those I’ve spoken with.”

“He won’t be able to command what he’s doing at the moment because to his age, but he’s always talked highly of Leicester City and the opportunity they’ve given him, and he’s returning them.

“As he progresses in his career, I believe there will be an element of ‘listen, I’ll play for whatever you give me.'” “I believe it would be a wise decision to sign him up for another year,” he continued.
