Jack Butland may rejoin the England national team, according to Gareth Southgate.

The Wembley manager acknowledged that Butland, the goalie for Rangers, is on a list of players being monitored in advance of Euro 2024.

Prior to the tournament, Southgate faces a dilemma in goalkeeping, since Jordan Pickford is undoubtedly the best

choice, but possible backups aren’t playing much football.

Sam Johnstone is not Crystal Palace’s first choice, Nick Pope is hurt at Newcastle,

and Aaron Ramsdale is sitting on the bench for Arsenal.

It implies that Southgate may consider players other than his usual choices, with Butland being a viable option to

represent his nation in the tournament.

In response, the England manager said, “It is up in the air.”

“It’s undeniable, so once more we need to make sure we’re keeping an eye on everyone, including Jack Butland, who

is undoubtedly a skilled goalkeeper and plays for a major team.

“With Nick hurt, Sam not playing right now, and Aaron not playing, it’s not the best scenario.

“We have to wait and see how it turns out.”

Regarding a potential England recall, Butland has stated, “You can only do what you can do.”

“I’ve had times in the past, even seasons, when I felt like the best in England.

“I’m limited to what I am now doing. It has been a while since I was in that England team. No, if I said that was the

first thing on my mind. Of course, I would be thrilled to have it.

“In the end, I have to perform for Rangers, and the reality is that we currently play frequently, competing in

prestigious leagues, and we still have European football to play.”

So maybe that’s a nice place to keep showcasing that.

“I am aware that they have a large roster of players and goalies to consider. Knowing the England team, they don’t

waste any time, and if it was something they were considering, they would have taken action sooner.”
