Cowboys picked as landing spot for ex-$29 Million Pro Bowler
An ex-Pro Bowler from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a great fit for the Dallas Cowboys.
Devin White, a linebacker for the Buccaneers, is expected to be added by the Cowboys, according to Cody Benjamin of CBS
Sports.

This offseason, White, like many other skilled linebackers available, will be a free agency. Not only has he won a
Super Bowl, but at the end of the 2020 season, he was selected to the Second Team All-Pro and was named to the Pro Bowl at
the end of the 2021 season.
Benjamin states that White, “physically gifted but often debated for his inconsistent angles, should still have a sizable market
because of his upside.” “Dallas never hesitates to bring in big names.”
Why the Cowboys Could Use Devin White
The 25-year-old linebacker has been one of the most statistically consistent linebackers in the league over the past few
seasons. Between 2020 and 2022, White racked up at least 124 tackles per season. White actually has the 10th-most tackles
in the NFL since the 2020 season.
Benjamin states that White, “physically gifted but often debated for his inconsistent angles, should still have a sizable market
because of his upside.” “Dallas never hesitates to bring in big names.”
Even though PFF may not think highly of him, Spotrac still forecasts White to make $10.7 million a year over the course of a
two-year contract worth $21.5 million.
The Cowboys use a more traditional 4-3 defensive alignment, while the Buccaneers use a 3-4 defensive alignment. That being
said, White could play the weakside linebacker position in Dallas’ defence as he often plays the left inside linebacker position.
Leighton Vander Esch’s Career May Be Over After Latest Neck Injury
Leighton Vander Esch — Dallas’ season-opening starter at weakside linebacker — may be facing a career-threatening neck
injury. Vander Esch’s 2023 season ended after just five games after suffering a neck injury. It was the fourth time — and the
fifth when include his college career at Boise State — that Vander Esch has suffered a serious neck/collarbone injury during
his NFL career.
Team owner Jerry Jones addressed the severity of Vander Esch’s neck injury back in November.
“He’s a crucial component of that defensive unit,” Jones stated on Dallas’s 105.3 The Fan. We simply want him well, and
given the nature of his possible injury, I find myself thinking far further forward than what that would entail for the
upcoming week or month. Everything about it revolves around what’s best for him.
Vander Esch has a deal that runs through another season, but the Cowboys would save $2.1 million if they cut him.
This would result in a $2.3 million dead cap charge.
White is a skilled and very productive veteran linebacker, despite the fact that he may not be the ideal player.
Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus ranks him as the seventh-best linebacker available in the free agent class.
According to Spielberger, White “carries a top-five-pick pedigree into free agency, which will always lead to a stronger market.”
He also often ranks among the most effective pass rushers among off-ball linebackers, exploding into the backfield
with his exceptional athleticism.
With Dallas having a need at linebacker and White just entering the prime of his career,
the move makes perfect sense for the Cowboys.
