Points deduction threat real at Rangers as official statement emerges – Finance Expert

Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers had to release a statement with a warning to fans over pyrotechnics after meeting with the SFA previously.

On December 3, the Ibrox club issued an official statement conceding that fines could be imposed following a meeting with the Scottish Football Association and Police Scotland.

The finance expert stated that subsequent offenses could result in a points deduction,

with early penalties expected to damage the team financially.

“They have to release that statement,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“It will hurt the club financially, first and foremost;

we’ve seen sanctions for pitch invasions in the English game,

and we’ve seen various other sanctions applied throughout history for fan disorder and fan behaviour,

so in negotiating with the authorities, the club must issue a firm statement.

“At the very least, you would expect fines if this continued, but you may also face point deductions,

and discussions have taken place about how to curb this type of behavior.

“Ultimately, the points deduction hurts the fans more than it does the money,

so I’m not saying it will reach that point, but if it continues, additional fines and penalties will be imposed.

“The club have got to put that statement out and at the very least,

it’s going to hurt the club in the pocket but you don’t want to run the risk of anything bigger down the line if it carries on.”

In other Rangers news, Plumley has claimed that the club can argue they have missed out if a £900 million or more deal was signed off.
