The truth behind Jhon Duran’s ban surfaces as the FA makes an announcement on Aston Villa ahead of the Arsenal match

The FA has issued a new Jhon Duran statement following the Aston Villa striker’s

return from a three-game ban against Everton this week. Duran was sent off early in

Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat for allegedly stamping on Fabian Schar’s back.

Villa protested the sending off, but Anthony Taylor’s decision stayed, and Duran missed games against

Brighton, Leicester, and an FA Cup triumph over West Ham. Duran returned to the bench at

Goodison Park but remained an unused replacement.

Having not appeared against the Toffees, it is probable his first appearance,

either from the start or as a substitute, since Boxing Day occurs on Saturday

evening when Villa host Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in the Premier

“The Aston Villa forward admitted to acting inappropriately in the 32nd minute

of the fixture after being sent off, and the sanction was subsequently imposed by an independent

Regulatory Commission.” According to the FA findings,

“The Commission discussed the incident and noted that the water bottle was kicked

in frustration with some ferocity, causing it to travel a significant distance.

“”The Commission noted that the fact that the bottle did not strike anybody

appeared to be attributable to luck rather than judgement.”

Duran has been reprimanded for the separate incident,

but he will not face any more suspensions, therefore he will be eligible for selection against Arsenal.
