Under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers have become the NFL’s epitome of consistency. Pittsburgh has never had a losing campaign and always finishes the year in the running for the postseason.

Sadly, Pittsburgh has also consistently lost early in the postseason, and owner Art Rooney II has made it plain that he is fed up with the team missing the postseason following essentially a cameo.

Rooney declared on Monday, “We’ve had enough of this,” per ESPN. “It’s time to get some wins; it’s time to take these next steps.”

Even though Pittsburgh has demonstrated an amazing capacity to be competitive throughout the regular season, the team has not been fortunate enough to win a playoff series. The last time the Steelers triumphed in the playoffs was during the 2016 campaign, when they defeated the Chiefs in the divisional round and the Dolphins in the wild-card round before falling to the Patriots in the conference final.

Pittsburgh has suffered a run of early losses ever since.

The Steelers have only won more than ten games once in the previous six seasons. Additionally, they have just once won fewer than nine games. The Steelers have only finished lower than second in the AFC North twice since their 2012 campaign when they placed third in the division back-to-back years.

Shortly after rumors circulated that Tomlin would be back for his 18th season leading the Steelers, Rooney made his remark. Rooney still believes that Tomlin is the best coach for Pittsburgh, despite the fact that he has led the team through a run of heartbreaking playoff losses.

Rooney reportedly stated, “I think the players still respond to Mike, and that’s No. 1,” according to ESPN. “He still possesses the essential qualities we observed in him upon hiring. He has the ability to hold a bunch of twentysomethings’ interest and keep them competitive for the duration of the season.

“So, you’re still happy about Mike. It goes without saying that if I didn’t, [we] would make a change, but Mike is here because we believe he can lead us to a title.
