Fabrice Hawkins claims that Lyon is prepared to let go of Diego Moreira, a Chelsea loanee, in order to make room for Arnaut Danjuma, an Everton forward.

The young Portuguese winger is likely to return to his parent club at Stamford Bridge, according to the Foot Mercato journalist’s tweet from January 21.

Lyon is still pressuring Danjuma to sign with the French team.

Liverpool Echo reported on 18 January that the Toffees want to keep the Villarreal loanee at the club until the end of the

season but Danjuma’s wish could make things difficult at Goodison Park.

Hawkins posted on Sunday morning: “Lyon intends to put an end to the loan of Diego Moreira.

“The young Portuguese left winger joined Les Gones at the end of the summer transfer window from Chelsea.

“Lyon continues to push for Arnaut Danjuma who wants to join the club.”

Sticky situation

Everton really have themselves to blame over Danjuma’s situation at Goodison Park and that’s down to his limited

opportunities at the club when his move over the summer was eagerly anticipated by all parties.

The attacker seemingly came close to a move to Goodison Park last January, only for Premier League rivals Tottenham to secure his services temporarily.

The club finally secured his signature over the summer with the expectation that he would rediscover his best form after his

struggles in North London last season but that hasn’t happened with Danjuma an afterthought under Sean Dyche.

With just over 800 minutes played thus far this season, Danjuma hasn’t exactly been a key player for Dyche, so it makes

sense that he would want to depart in order to get more playing time.

In order to make room for him in the team, Lyon appears to be pressuring him even more to make the move as they attempt

to terminate Chelsea winger Moreira’s loan agreement.

The decision now rests with Everton on whether they wish to cut short Danjuma’s loan to allow him his desire but that will

now leave Dyche short in the attacking areas in the quest for Premier League safety.

It’s a sticky situation.
