Two Rangers players Leeds United would sign in the summer window after 49ers Enterprises takeover
Eighteen months after Glen Kamara signed for Leeds United from Rangers, business between those clubs could become increasingly regular should 49ers Enterprises complete a takeover of the Glasgow giants.
Before that switch south of the border for Kamara, the late Marius Zaliukas was the last player to go from one to another in the summer of 2014. However, with Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe thought to be behind a bid to buy Rangers, those are unlikely to remain the only transfers between the clubs this century for long.
Davie Robertson, Derek Parlane and Mel Sterland joined Leeds during the 1980s and 1990s, with Rod Wallace moving in the opposite direction. LeedsLive has a look at which Rangers players they could sign this summer;
Hamza Igamane
Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are said to have scouted Hamza Igamane since a summer switch to Scotland. TEAMtalk have also credited Bayer Leverkusen and Nice with an interest – during the January transfer window.
Leeds could rival them for the player’s signature, should they secure promotion, such is their need for a centre-forward. The 22-year-old has scored 13 goals and assisted another in 31 appearances this season – including four across six Europa League matches.
Rangers paid Moroccan club FAR Rabat circa £2million under a year ago. However, they could now conceivably cash in for ten times that figure amid Premier League interest.
Jefte
Chelsea are claimed to have contacted the representatives of Rangers left-back Jefte. Philippe Clement even addressed those reports earlier this year – suggesting such a move would come “too early” for the 21-year-old.
Therefore, a move to Leeds may be more realistic for the Brazilian who only left his homeland permanently last summer. A season-long loan at APOEL in Cyprus convinced the Scottish club to pay Fluminense about £1million.
Isaac Schmidt has barely played this term behind Junior Firpo, so signing another left-back could well be on the agenda this summer. Jefte, at four years Schmidt’s junior, could prove a better bet.
