Aston Villa kicked to the kerb as explosive Serie A forward in constant Roma talks

Aston Villa kicked to the kerb as explosive Serie A forward in constant Roma talks

Given that the star player in Serie A and Italy is in frequent talks about joining Roma,

Aston Villa is unlikely to land one of the top summer transfer targets.

Villa’s manager, Unai Emery, is already making plans for the upcoming campaign as

the team gets closer to beating Tottenham of North London to qualify for the Champions League.

With two games remaining, Villa leads Spurs by seven points,

but Ange Postecoglou’s team still has a chance to surpass the Midlands team because they have a game in hand.

Both teams suffered defeats over the weekend.

But with a dominant Manchester City in the next game, Villa’s hopes of qualifying for Europe are still high.

However, in order to compete at the highest level of European football,

more elite players are needed, which is why Villa is interested in Federico Chiesa,

an attacker for Juventus who has previously been connected to Liverpool.

Despite discussions, the Italy international is now struggling in Turin and his contract,

which expires in the summer of 2025, has not been renewed.

Due to the contract standoff, the 26-year-old is attracting interest from several teams,

with Villa being firmly mentioned as a possible destination.

However, in a recent interview with Radio Radio,

journalist Stefano Agresti of Gazzetta Dello Sport gave an update on Chiesa’s circumstances,

The commentator claims that the winger believes he should be playing for a bigger team and may end up staying at Juventus.

Then, it is evident that, given Chiesa’s level of ambition,

things might have changed if an offer had come from an English team as opposed to Roma.

Aston Villa, which finished fourth in the Premier League last year, expressed interest in participating in the Champions League.

Agresti stated, “He felt that Aston Villa was insufficient of a club to persuade him to leave Juventus.”

“This indicates that he doesn’t see himself at Aston Villa, and I’m not sure if he sees himself at Roma.

He sees himself at a big club, and he’s rightfully ambitious.”

Roma urging a deal with Chiesa
Notwithstanding the latter statement, a different source claims that Daniele De Rossi,

the coach of Roma, is in continual communication with the attacker in an attempt to

persuade the Juventus star to go to the Italian city this summer.

Chiesa, who may sit back and wait for his contract to expire and go away free in 2025,

hasn’t been at his best this season for Juventus under Massimiliano Allegri,

managing just eight goals and three assists in 33 appearances.

These kinds of numbers are well below what one would anticipate from one of Italy’s top attacking players.

In light of this, there’s a great sense that Chiesa would want to leave

Juventus in order to further his career—this would be a novel experience for the Euro 2020 champion.
