The Scotland international is in advanced talks to prolong his stay beyond his current contract,

which expires in 2022.

After nine straight domestic trophies, Forrest believes the club will only grow better with the improved challenge from Rangers.

The team has progressed under his leadership in recent seasons.

At the beginning of the season, Forrest’s manager Neil Lennon indicated that he was in negotiations for a new contract.

The winger stated, “It’s nearly done, everything is basically agreed.

” I simply need to keep concentrating on playing, and I’ll be happy to finish that as soon as possible.

“I have always said that I want to continue at Celtic,

and the club has made the same decision since the beginning of preseason.

The discussions have been very fruitful, and the end may be in sight.”

After Forrest’s long-term comeback to the team was finalized,

Lennon gave him his debut in May 2010 and set his sights on securing the wide man a new deal.

“When I play, it gives me confidence,” Forrest remarked.

“It’s a great team to be involved in just now and I just want to keep working hard to stay there.”

The 28-year-old’s goal in Celtic’s 4-0 victory over Aberdeen on Sunday brought his season total to nine goals.

After losing their opening two away Ladbrokes Premiership games by five points,

the Hoops recovered magnificently, scoring ten goals in two league games after their Europa League victory against Lazio.

“We had a fantastic outcome against Cluj and a strong showing,

and then there was the Livingston result a few days later,

” declared Forrest, who was endorsing a Celtic Women sponsorship agreement with BeCordial Hotels.

“We all wanted to make sure the league is the top priority after the game the other night,

and we delivered another strong performance and outcome.
