Leeds United’s goalkeeping department is particularly good.

The Whites have three senior shot stoppers on their roster: Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow, and Kristoffer Klaesson.

Meslier has emerged as United’s clear number one. He earned his 150th league start for the team in Friday’s 4-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers.

Will United be looking for a new custodian when the transfer window reopens in the summer?

The West Yorkshire club has been strongly connected with a deal for Rotherham United’s Viktor Johansson.

Johansson, widely considered as one of the best shot-stoppers outside of the Premier League,

is anticipated to quit the Millers when the club is relegated to League One. Stoke City has also been linked with an interest in the youngster.

The Swedish international has a release option in his contract and will be available for a reduced transfer fee,

believed to be about £750,000. The 25-year-old was left out of the United team’s 2-0 loss to Bristol City last weekend.

Former United manager Steve Evans, who has recently returned to Rotherham as manager, acknowledges there has been “huge interest” in Johansson.

“The chances are that, with the huge interest in him, Viktor will leave in the summer,” Evans told the Rotherham Advertiser.

“It will probably be a life-changing move for the kid.”

Johansson was questioned about his future when relegation was confirmed. He explained, “I haven’t really thought about the summer.

I am still fully focused here. We haven’t done well enough, and we want to find something positive to conclude the season on.

You must keep your thoughts focused or you will fail yourself and your team. “I do not want to be like that.”
