Rangers: Following Aston Villa announcement, FIFA regulations may result in new Ibrox windfall.

According to Football Scotland, Rory Wilson at Aston Villa may be the source of Rangers’ next windfall.

As interested clubs look on, the news source said on its website on Monday, March 25, that according to FIFA rules, the Gers would be entitled to a portion of whatever money the English Premier League club banks for the 18-year-old forward before he turns 23 in 2029.

It follows news from Fabrizio Romano on Sunday, March 24, that the Scotland U-21 international, who signed a new five-year contract at Villa Park in 2022, will be leaving Ibrox after eight years.
Rory Wilson may provide the Rangers with a big profit.

Given the buzz surrounding his potential, Wilson’s decision to join Villa two years ago was undoubtedly a tremendous letdown.

After his cross-border transfer, they only got £230,000 in compensation, which is extremely little considering how much work goes into a player’s development.

But with the agreement including a sell-on provision, the Gers are hopeful that, given the teenager’s success in the Villans‘ program, they may eventually reap a large reward.

Unai Emery will surely be taking notice of the Scotsman’s 16 goals in 13 games for the U-18s team this season.

The Light Blues will have to wait on a number of things before they can cash in on the forward, but Glasgow will have some curious spectators keeping an eye on him.
