According to Football Scotland, Rory Wilson at Aston Villa may be the source of Rangers’ next windfall.

As interested clubs look on, the news source said on its website on Monday, March 25, that according to FIFA rules,

the Gers would be entitled to a portion of whatever money the English Premier League club banks for the 18-year-old

forward before he turns 23 in 2029.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday (24 March) that the Scotland U-21 international, who spent

eight years at Ibrox before joining Villa in 2022, is set to sign a new five-year deal at Villa Park.

Rory Wilson could earn Rangers significant windfall

Given the buzz surrounding his potential, Wilson’s decision to join Villa two years ago was undoubtedly a

tremendous letdown.

After his cross-border transfer, they only got £230,000 in compensation, which is extremely little considering how

much work goes into a player’s development.

But after the Gers secured a sell-on clause as part of the agreement, there is hope that they could potentially land a

significant windfall down the line following the teenager’s form in the Villans’ academy.

Unai Emery will surely be taking notice of the Scotsman’s 16 goals in 13 games for the U-18s team this season.

The Light Blues will have to wait on a number of things before they can cash in on the forward, but Glasgow will have some curious spectators keeping an eye on him.

In other Rangers news, following what transpired with the Gers, Neil Lennon declared a scenario to be “unacceptable.”
