Rangers: BBC pundit shares why clubs want to sign ‘incredible’ Ibrox star amid transfer interest

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland is attracting interest from other clubs because he has been consistent all season.

Former Gers striker Billy Dodds described the number one as “incredible” during the play against Ross County on Wednesday (14 February).

“As the season has gone on, he has not been needed that much, but the odd save he has to make has been incredible at times,

” Dodds said on BBC Sportsound (8.07pm, 14 February). “But he has been consistent all season,

that’s why he’s getting these clubs interested in him.”

Will Butland quit the Rangers?
Not all of Michael Beale’s summer signings have paid out,

but Butland’s arrival has, with the goalkeeper making an early impact at Ibrox.

He had a lot to live up to after club legend Allan McGregor retired,

but he’s done an excellent job so far. The performances appear to have piqued the interest of Forest,

who want to bring the goalkeeper back to the Premier League, as well as England manager Gareth Southgate,

who wants him back in the England squad.

It will be intriguing to see how both of these cases progress,

although Ibrox’s attitude on the former is obvious, having issued a hands-off warning last month.

The club’s management is hopeful that Philippe Clement’s silverware pursuit this season would persuade Butland to stay and reclaim his England spot by continuing at Ibrox.

And that should be the perspective of the powers that be for as long as feasible, with the goalie being an important player for his manager.

In other Rangers news, Dean Jones has forecast a “slugfest” between the Gers and Celtic based on his observations in the Scottish Premiership.
