Ibrox View: Rangers made superb last-

easy choice
Oscar Cortes made a fantastic last-
minute decision for Rangers as they won
the match against Ayr United. The club
was busy during the January transfer
window, bringing Oscar Cortes, Fabio
Silva, and Mohammed Diomande to
Ibrox.
All three have signed a loan, and it
appears that they will all have significant
roles to play for the balance of the season
under Philippe Clement.
On Saturday, February 10, the man in the
dugout gave new winger Cortes his debut
start for the team against Ayr United, and
the attacker more than lived up to the
expectations.
After just ten minutes, the 20-year-old
had already made an impression, as the
attacker found Borna Barisic, the left
defender, for the first goal.
Silva won the match in the second part of
the Scottish Cup fifth round match, but
most of the credit went to Cortes, who
was voted Player of the Match [official
Rangers X account, February 10].
Bringing the child to Ibrox was a last–
minute choice because Cortes had just
temporarily joined from RC Lens on the
day of the deadline.
However, given Cortes’ breakout
performance at Ibrox, the Scottish
powerhouses appear to have made a
brilliant choice that has advanced them
to the next round of the Scottish Cup.
Not every player has been successful at
Ibrox, as evidenced by a few of the
summer arrivals, but their new winger
has undoubtedly done so.
After an unsuccessful attempt to sign
Ibrox during the January transfer
window, a writer has reported the latest
conversations between the Rangers and
a potential new acquisition.
