The Gers Philippe Clement has threatened to ‘leave his job’ if he truly believes a referee is biased.

Willie Collum will take charge of Rangers’ Scottish Cup match against Ayr United tomorrow evening.

It will be the seasoned official’s first encounter with the Ibrox club since the penalty controversy surrounding Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Rangers on December 30.

Rangers were left reeling as VAR, which was controlled by Collum that day, instructed Nick Walsh to wave play on following Alistair Johnson’s handball in Celtic’s area.

The Scottish FA later discovered that Abdallah Sima had been flagged for offside prior to the goal.

Rangers officials did, however, meet with Crawford Allan, the SFA’s head of refereeing.

They subsequently made an official complaint with the SFA and SPFL, requesting that Collum not officiate any future Rangers games.

Of course, the governing organizations overturned this, citing the referee’s decision.

And he’ll return to Ibrox for the first time since the Old Firm derby incident tomorrow, when Scott Brown’s Ayr United travel to Glasgow.

Clement has defended Collum, stating that he has no qualms with the SFA’s choice to assign him to a Rangers game.

He stated, “I am pleased to be honest. When I believe a referee is not neutral,

I immediately quit my job. So I’m glad we can leave the past behind us.”

The Belgian then revealed that he had no part in Rangers’ request for Collum.

He added, “No. That is something for the club, and we discussed it. But that will happen in the future.
