Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo, two former Rangers, are thrilled to be playing for

Nigeria in the AFCON Final following an exciting victory over South Africa.

After a thrilling semi-final match between the two players, Nigeria prevailed on penalty kicks.

In the 67th minute, Teboho Mokoena of South Africa scored another penalty kick to give

Nigeria the lead. Teboho Ekong did the same for his country in the 90th minute.

Grant Kekana’s dismissal from the Bafana Bafana during extra time left them with just 10 players,

but the Super Eagles prevailed on a beautiful night in the Ivory Coast.

Calvin Bassey, who currently plays for Fulham in the Premier League, participated in every minute of the match for Nigeria as they advanced to their first final since winning the AFCON championship in South Africa in 2013.

On a historic night for the country, Joe Aribo, who is still with Southampton south of the border,

came off the bench in extra time, but neither player converted a penalty kick for the county.

Now, both former Rangers players will want to participate in this Sunday’s AFCON Final,

which takes place against the host nation, Ivory Coast.

Sebastian Haller’s goal proved to be the game-winning goal as the Ivorians defeated the

Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 to advance to the final.

Big impressions from the Rangers duo at Ibrox

Naturally, Rangers and Nigerian football have a history together, as both Joe Aribo and

Calvin Bassey made their Super Eagles debuts while playing at Ibrox.

Nigerian international Leon Balogun, a veteran of the Gers, was left out of the national
