Jim McAlister breaks silence over Rangers sacking as emotional kitman opens up on ‘trauma’ of unfair dismissal

Jim McAlister, a former kitman for the Rangers, has talked about the “personal trauma” he went through after successfully suing the team for an unfair dismissal.

The former midfield player for Dundee and Greenock Morton prevailed

in a court case against his childhood idols, who had to give him £13,000

after he was fired at the beginning of the previous campaign.

The 38-year-old is currently employed in another behind-the-scenes role

with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

However, a Glasgow employment tribunal determined that Ibrox executives were

in “breach of contract” when they let McAlister leave last year,

and as a result, they were held accountable for his “unfair dismissal.”

He was heartbroken by the relocation and has since shared

his experiences on Instagram. “I wanted to put on record my thanks to everyone

who has supported me since the Glasgow Employment

Tribunal decided that Rangers wrongfully fired me,” he said.

As you can guess, facing false accusations causes pain not only for me personally

but also for my close friends and family, all of whom were aware that

the accusations lacked any solid evidence. Along with their sense of justice

and fairness, I also learned about the resilience of the Rangers family

and football community.
