Celtic got away with ‘daylight robbery’ in their victory at Hibernian last night.

Kris Boyd, the former striker for the Rangers, feels that way.

At Easter Road, Brendan Rodgers’ team needed extra time to secure all three points, as Adam Idah scored from the spot.

Despite Dylan Levitt’s early game cancellation of Idah’s first penalty, the champions found it difficult to defeat Nick

Montgomery’s revamped Hibs squad.

With one more game to play, the Hoops reopened a three-point lead over Rangers at the top of the Premiership with a late

goal from the on-loan Norwich attacker that set off wild celebrations in the away end.

However, Boyd had to be brutally honest about their lacklustre performance in the capital in order to accept the outcome.

“Any game you want to get the three points, but make no mistake Celtic got away with one tonight, there is

no doubt about that,” he stated after the game on Sky Sports.

“When he (Idah) came up, a lot of people asked him questions, but it’s impressive that he was able to

score such large penalties.

“Everything around you changes when you win a game, and you feel like you were in control of it,

but Celtic was much below the level they had established the previous two years.

They got away with robbing someone tonight, even though it was during the day.”

Particularly on the second penalty, in which Joe Newell bumped into Kyogo, Eilidh Barbour questioned Neil Lennon,

James McFadden, and Boyd on whether they all agreed with Nick Walsh’s call.

Following a nod from Boyd and McFadden, Lennon remarked, “Joe just flies in there.

” Though he catches Kyogo late and the ball is in the box, I can appreciate his attempt to block the shot.

“I can understand the referee maybe misses it but when he sees it again he has got to give a penalty.”
