Clement already impressed by one new Rangers ace who is ‘adapting really fast’

Oscar Cortes  is‘adapting really fast’ to life at Rangers with Philippe Clement impressed by a man who enjoyed an eye-catching Scottish Premiership bow against Aberdeen on Tuesday night.

In a week of welcomes at Ibrox, Neil Warnock endured his first defeat as manager of a new side since 1997,

with Todd Cantwell’s second-half goal gaining three crucial points for the hosts.

Oscar Cortes, meanwhile, has had a much better start in his new club,

with the January transfer from RC Lens making an eye-catching cameo off the bench as Rangers thrashed The Dons.

Cortes joined on loan last week, only a few months and four appearances after moving to France for £4 million.

Why did Lens give up on him so early? Why was there so little competition for his autograph?

Oscar Cortes is already impressing at Rangers.
Cortes did answer one question when he came off the bench in midweek:

why Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen chose to take a chance on a relatively unknown 20-year-old.

The Colombia international was a flurry of energy and excitement on the left side, giving a more-than-passable image of Abdallah Sima.

“Oscar is adapting really fast,” Clement added, before explaining why Cortes played more minutes against Aberdeen than fellow January signing Mohamed Diomande.

“However, he also played for Colombia’s Under-21 squad, thus he is more match-fit.

Dio’s last game was in late November (for Nordsjaelland), so he still has some physical work to do.

I see in training that he is also prepared to do the right thing for the team, week after week, match by match.

“It is seeing if we can bring them more into the story step by step.

“Rangers signed three players during the winter transfer window,

the first of whom was Fabio Silva on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Silva,

who formerly cost Wolves a club record £35 million, opened his account for Clement’s team with a brilliant but deflected goal in a 3-0 victory over Livingston.
