Former Rangers and Celtic striker Kenny Miller believes the Gers are now favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title.

The Sky Sports pundit’s prediction comes after the Ibrox team pulled within three points of league leaders and arch rivals Celtic.

Rangers can go top of the table if they defeat Aberdeen by three goals at Ibrox on Tuesday (6 February).

When asked if the Rangers are now title favourites, Miller replied [Daily Record, 4 February]: “I believe so. Philippe Clement evidently dislikes the word “momentum.” But he faces every difficulty that comes his way.”

Rangers cruise under Clement.

Rangers are soaring under Clement, who has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the Ibrox dugout since succeeding Michael Beale as manager.

It’s truly a night and day difference in terms of how the two managers performed on the field, with Beale struggling at the start of the season.

But his successor has turned things around, having won the League Cup with the Gers during his brief time at the club.

His team is also through to the Europa League knockout stages after a spectacular group stage performance, and the Glasgow club has advanced to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. But all eyes will now be on the league charge, which managerless Aberdeen up next for Clement and his players.

Neil Warnock could be in the Dons’ dugout in time for that one after Barry Robson was fired [The Scottish Sun, 3 February], but their behind-the-scenes drama will still benefit Rangers in the forthcoming match at Ibrox.
