The Dallas Cowboys suffered a playoff humiliation. After the Green Bay Packers humiliated Dallas to an unprecedented extent two weeks ago,

we have all been searching for explanations and have eventually arrived at the same conclusion: people will continue to

be angry until they stop being angry.

To be clear, the issue isn’t just that Dallas fell to their enduring adversary; the details of the defeat are more important.

The Cowboys were completely crushed in every aspect and were never competitive.

They have therefore officially passed the 28-year mark since their Super Bowl victory or NFC Championship Game appearance.

Needless to say optimism is down and that does not appear to be something lost on team EVP Stephen Jones.

Speaking at the Senior Bowl on Tuesday, Jones was asked about fan pessimism and said that until they (as in the Cowboys) get it done,

no one is going to trust them.

“We’ve finished 12-5 the last three years, but we’ve seen significant postseason setbacks.

That will remain the case unless we take action to address it, which is to have another fantastic year and achieve victory in the playoffs.

They will not expressly trust you until you complete the task. Is there someone who believes in Tom Brady and the Patriots to finish the job? Yes.

Why? because they consistently performed it. Does anyone have faith in Mahomes and Kansas City to deliver the goods? Why?

They’ve made it to the Championship Game six times in a row because they do it.

There will be till we compete at that level and complete the task be doubt. And rightfully so.”

It is difficult to say anything but that he was absolutely right—a statement that is unlikely to have been made by many of his admirers.

Nobody believes the Cowboys will pull it off until they do. It really is that easy sometimes.

As you may have heard or read, Stephen particularly mentioned Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes,

the quarterbacks, while talking about the degree of confidence people have in the New England Patriots and

Kansas City Chiefs based on their individual success.

It was an odd bit of inclusion given the circumstances surrounding Dak Prescott and the impending question of whether or not

the Cowboys will restructure, extend, or come up with an alternate option with him.

Jones was pressed on that near the end of the video and defended Prescott, although if you really want to read into

things he did not use the word trust.

“We love our quarterback. It’s well-documented what we think about our quarterback.”

This is going to be a really long offseason for the Cowboys and it is only just beginning.

It is hard to see what they could conceivably do that would earn back the “trust” of fans and everyone who has believed in them.
