Top EPL manager set to replace Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead

A significant update on Brendan Rodgers‘ future as Celtic manager has emerged, revealing the club’s current stance.

The Irishman is in his second season as manager at Parkhead, following a somewhat successful first term that includes two Scottish Premiership crowns, a Scottish Cup victory, and three Scottish League Cups.

Rodgers averaged a spectacular 2.24 points per game in leadership of Celtic across 169 games, demonstrating their supremacy across all competitions as he restored his image after a dismal finish to his time at Liverpool.

This time, however, the former Liverpool and Leicester City manager may not be as popular with Hoops fans, as his team is vying for another league crown this season. They trail the Rangers by two points entering the final stretch of the season, which many would not have predicted in August.

Despite this, one recent source claimed that Rodgers was not under fear of termination, but he does appear to be in a more perilous position than in the past. A fresh revelation has emerged, providing greater insight into his future.

According to a recent claim by Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke, Celtic do not view Rodgers as their manager for the foreseeable future, with the report stating that he is not regarded as a “long-term” option in charge. It then goes on to say that “there have been too many on-field and off-field issues during Rodgers’ second spell at Parkhead, which could force the board into a decision.”

The Hoops board is “likely to sack the former Leicester City manager if he fails to win the league this season,” emphasizing the necessity of going all out in the Scottish Premiership.

This is a strange update in some ways, because Celtic do not appear to have enough trust in Rodgers to ensure that he is  the long-term solution at Parkhead.

All this suggests is that there are legitimate concerns about him moving forward, but not enough to get rid of him right now.

To be fair to the 51-year-old, terminating him before the end of the season may appear rash.

Celtic are still in the title race, having lost only three of their 29 league games all season.

Granted, he is presently averaging 2.05 points per game in his second season as manager;

indicating a slight decline, but the benefits still exceed the disadvantages.

It is easy to imagine Rodgers being sacked if the Rangers win the championship ahead of their opponents.

However, given the degree of fuming it is likely to generate, and properly so.
