BREAKING NEWS: Broncos’ Defender Sends Message After Agreeing to $20 Million Contract
Next season, the Denver Broncos will have a whole new look on both sides of the ball.
Russell Wilson, a Pittsburgh Steeler, will be the new quarterback behind center. There will be some new faces on defense as well, some of
whom will be filling in for club mainstays.
Such is the case for new Broncos safety, Brandon Jones. Jones agreed to a three-year, $20 million contract, per Bleacher Report’s Jordan
Schultz. The former Miami Dolphins defensive back sent a message to his former and new fanbases following the news.
Jones wrote on X, the former Twitter platform, on March 11 that he “truly wouldn’t trade these last 4 years for anything.” “I will always be
appreciative to the Dolphins organization for believing in a young man from Nacogdoches, Texas, who merely wanted to fulfill his
childhood ambition of being an NFL player. Denver… LFG
Jones has just one season with double-digit starts, in 2021 when he recorded 79 tackles, 5.0 sacks,
two fumble recoveries, one forced, and one interception.
In 2023, he tallied 48 stops, 4 deflections, 2 interceptions, 1 force, and 1 recovery.
For the 2020 third-round pick (number 70 overall), Jones is getting a sizable increase. Jones had previously signed to a four-year, $4.9
million contract. Official release of the complete information is not expected until March 13,
although Schultz did report on the anticipated breakdown.
On March 11, Schultz posted, “BREAKING: Free agent safety Brandon Jones plans to sign a 3-year, $20M deal with the #Broncos with
upside to $22.5M, sources tell @BleacherReport.” “Sources say Jones is guaranteed $12.5 million.”
Jones, who will turn 26 in April, is expected to take Justin Simmons’ spot after he played in the Pro Bowl twice. In the early stages of free
agency negotiations, Simmons is still unsigned.
