Former Chiefs P Tommy Townsend agrees on 2-year deal with Houston Texans, report says

Missouri’s Kansas City Tommy Townsend, a former punter for the Kansas City Chiefs, is reportedly moving to Houston.

On X (formerly Twitter), ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed that Townsend and the Houston

Texans have reached an agreement on a $6 million, two-year contract.

Townsend arrived in Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and has been the punter for the Chiefs for the past four seasons.

In 2022, he was a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection after averaging 50.4 yards per punt with a 45.6-yard net average.

His production took a dip in 2023 when he average 47.1 gross yards and 41.9 net yards.

The punter Matt Araiza, who was exonerated of any role in a civil complaint filed in August 2022 over the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-

old girl in Southern California, signed with the Chiefs on February 22.
