Will Still, continuously linked with the Sunderland managerial position, has revealed Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe as one of his sources of inspiration.

At just 31 years old, Still has garnered attention within football circles and on social media for his relative success. He openly admits to refining his managerial skills through the popular video game Football Manager.

Originally from Belgium with English heritage, Still’s journey includes stints in both amateur and semi-professional football before assuming the role of assistant manager for Preston North End’s under-14 team. He then progressed to managerial positions at Lierse, Beerschot, and Remis.

Amid strong links to the Sunderland job, particularly following the departures of Tony Mowbray and Michael Beale, Still emphasizes the importance of drawing inspiration from various sources within the football world. In an interview with AS, he lauds managers like Carlo Ancelotti and Eddie Howe for their innovative approaches.

In a recent conversation with The Athletic, Still reaffirms his willingness to work in the Championship, underlining the significance of finding the right environment for his unconventional managerial style.

He states, “I would work for a Championship team without a problem. What I’ve now understood…is how important people are…And people who understand the way I work, because I’m a bit different. I’m a bit odd sometimes.”
