A crucial update has emerged about Brendan Rodgers’ future as Celtic manager, with the club’s current attitude made quite apparent.
Brendan Rodgers is under pressure at Celtic.

The Irishman is in his second time as manager at Parkhead, after a fairly successful first stint that included two Scottish Premiership titles, a Scottish Cup crown, and three Scottish League Cups.

Rodgers averaged a magnificent 2.24 points per game in command of Celtic across 169 games, showcasing their dominance across all competitions as he rebuilt his image after a disappointing conclusion to his career at Liverpool.

This time, however, the former Liverpool and Leicester City manager may not be as popular among the Hoops fans, as his team is fighting to win another league title this season. They trail Rangers by two points heading into the last stretch of the season, which many would not have imagined back in August.

Despite this, one recent source stated that Rodgers was not under threat of being fired, but he does appear to be in a more perilous situation than in the past. A new revelation has emerged that offers further insight on his future.
Celtic make their opinion known on Brendan Rodgers.

According to a recent report by Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke, Celtic have not seen Rodgers as their manager for years  to come, with the report stating that he is not seen as the “long-term” option in the dugout. It goes on to add that “there have been too many on-field and off-field issues during Rodgers’ second spell at Parkhead, which could force the board into a decision.”

The Hoops board is “likely to sack the former Leicester City manager if he fails to win the league this season,” highlighting the importance of going all the way in the Scottish Premiership.

This is a weird update in some ways, since Celtic do not appear to have enough faith in Rodgers to ensure that he is the long-term solution at Parkhead.

All this suggests is that there are legitimate concerns about him moving forward, but not enough to get rid of him right now.

Brendan Rodgers’ managerial career Matches Points per game
Celtic 38 2.05
Leicester City 204 1.59
Celtic 169 2.24
Liverpool 166 1.77
Swansea City 96 1.55
Reading 23 1.04
Watford 31 1.45

In fairness to the 51-year-old, dismissing him of his duties before the end of the season may appear rash,

given that Celtic are still in the title race and have only lost three of their 29 league games this season.

Granted, he is currently averaging 2.05 points per game in his second season as manager,

indicating a little decline, but the advantages still outweigh the drawbacks.

It is easy to imagine Rodgers being fired if Rangers win the title ahead of their opponents,

but considering the degree of fuming it might likely, and rightfully, cause.
