Revealed: Celtic and Norwich reach an agreement for the permanent transfer of striker
Brendan Rodgers believes a summer deal with Norwich City will be required to keep Adam Idah at Celtic.
The striker’s goals away to Hibs and Motherwell have helped maintain the Hoops within two points of Rangers in the Premiership title chase.
Some questioned his loan move from Norwich until the end of the season, but he has now scored five goals and provided an assist in seven Celtic games.
His January loan transfer did not include the option to buy.
When asked if Idah may stay in Glasgow after the season, Rodgers firmly placed the ball in Norwich’s court.
He replied, “We’ll evaluate that at the end of the season.” It’s not entirely in our hands. It would have to be negotiated.
This season, Hoops’ transfer business has been criticized, with Mark Lawwell, head of first team scouting and recruitment,
departing his position following the January window. Rodgers claims that preparations for the summer transfer season have been going full steam ahead.
The Irishman stated: “There is a lot of work being done on that front. Is this an opportunity to put my imprint on it?
Yeah, I think we lost several significant guys this season that would have changed the game.
Those guys were more than just good footballers; they were personality types.
It’s difficult when you lose that personality.
“The guys have been fantastic this season, despite everything that has been thrown at them.
I had to give these people a chance because they had recently won three championships.
“But I also know from my football experience, particularly at clubs like Celtic, that there is a rotating door every three to four years.
It’s about determining what the squad requires and how it can improve and grow.
Even if your team is winning, you must re-energize the squad. That is something we will consider doing in the summer.
