Kris Boyd praises three Rangers acquisitions that have rendered Celtic appear ridiculous.

Former Ibrox hitman Kris Boyd says Rangers’ January transfer window activity has been so successful that it’s making a mockery of Celtic’s accusations that there was no value in the market.

In the end, between January 1st and February 1st, only two players made it to Parkhead. Even though Adam Idah,

a Norwich City loanee, has scored five goals in his first five Premiership games, one of those has been a big hit so far.

However, most people agree that Celtic’s roster is weaker now than it was during the Hogmanay fireworks,

particularly after the Hoops shipped out Liel Abada, David Turnbull, and Alexandro Bernabei.

Boyd contends that the Celtic board, which is already under scrutiny, is looking somewhat foolish in comparison, given the success of the Rangers’ three midseason arrivals.

In Thursday night’s thrilling 2-2 Europa League tie against Benfica,

Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande worked in perfect harmony to set up Tom Lawrence’s first goal.

And although an injury ended Oscar Cortes’ loan period at Ibrox, the Colombian speedster was well on his way to becoming a “fan favorite” following a stellar start to his own Ibrox career.

Rangers gain from their bravery in January

“Celtic lamented to their investors that they were unable to locate suitable targets during the January transfer window.

Boyd tells the Scottish Sun that Rangers didn’t appear to have that issue.

“The Hoops told fans they would have wanted to have spent more on new talents but couldn’t get the agreements done when they unveiled their great financial achievements.

In the meantime, Oscar Cortes, Fabio Silva, and Mohamed Diomande were being brought in by Philippe Clement.

The Rangers have previously made outstanding use of the winter window as well.

In 2022, Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin came from Standard Liege and Norwich, respectively.

Todd Cantwell, in particular, has contributed to the team’s recent ascent to the top of the Premiership table.

At Ibrox, Diomande was a tremendous hit.

Boyd continues, “Diomande and Silva are starting to show valuable additions can be landed in the middle of the season.”

Diomande’s contract with Nordsjaelland includes a £4 million buyout clause, making him a possible steal.

Although he doesn’t have the biggest frame, he is tough,

skilled at passing the ball, and unafraid to take it in confined spaces.

His goals against St Johnstone and Hearts shown that he also possesses a strike.

Naturally, things are still early, and I’m not getting ahead of myself. Diomande,

nevertheless, has the makings of a strong midfield player for the Gers. Saying that he is an improvement over Cifuentes—who has already been sent to Brazil—wouldn’t be overly dramatic.

Before losing his spot and going on loan to Cruzeiro, Cifuentes made nine league appearances for Rangers without scoring a goal.

Diomande, on the other hand, has already scored two goals and provided one assist while wearing royal blue,

and he is a big factor in Clement’s team surpassing its Old Firm competitors at the top of the rankings.
