Rangers: Ibrox verdict as Neil Warnock quits Aberdeen at Pittodrie

David Edgar quipped that Neil Warnock took the Aberdeen position solely for the chance to play Rangers at Ibrox.

The decision comes after Warnock resigned as Dons manager on Saturday (9 March), just after leading his team to a victory over Kilmarnock.

Aberdeen advanced to the Scottish Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 quarter-final victory over Killie at Pittodrie.

Edgar said on X following Aberdeen’s announcement: “He only wanted a night at Ibrox, really eh?”

Neil Warnock leaves Aberdeen having experienced defeat against Rangers at Ibrox.

Warnock struggled at Aberdeen, starting with a difficult trip to Ibrox early last month.

Philippe Clement’s side won the Scottish Premiership match 2-1, and the result seemed to have set the tone for Warnock in Scotland.

The seasoned manager did not win any of his six league games in charge, but he did win both of his Scottish Cup matches.

The Dons are soaring high in the league, with Warnock overseeing victories over Kilmarnock and Bonnyrigg Rose in his 33 days in command.

Aberdeen are now ninth in the Scottish Premiership, despite their great performance in the Scottish Cup.

The situation at Pittodrie is chaotic, but it will not concern Clement too much, as the Rangers manager has concentrate on his own club and their near future, including the Scottish Cup, league, and Europa League.
