In light of Mohamed Diomande’s potential as a “really top player,”

former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson is pleading with the Scottish Premiership contenders to finalize a permanent transfer for the loanee.

The gifted central midfielder was frequently criticized for his lack of goals and assists in his box-to-box role when playing for Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

Thought to be a weakness in Mohamed Diomande’s game,

the Ivorian is beginning to turn it into a strength with two goals in his first eight Rangers appearances and a first assist for Philippe Clement’s team against Benfica in the UEFA Europa League.

The Ivorian combined brilliantly with fellow winter arrival Fabio Silva before setting up Tom Lawrence’s opener in Lisbon.

Ferguson is already persuaded that a permanent contract worth about £4 million will be a great value.

At Rangers, Mohamed Diomande is a huge hit.

The former Ibrox captain, who spent two stints in Glasgow and won five Scottish Premiership titles, tells Go Radio that “he’s settled in really quickly.”

It takes some time to become used to a new place. But hear me out:

he’s got a goal in him, he’s adept with the ball, and he disrupts play. I believe he possesses every quality needed to be a truly great player.

“The Rangers’ model fits it.” The fee, in my opinion, is close to £4 million.

That’s what they need to go do, in my opinion. I believe it to be true that they will sign him.

“If he continues to play and develop at this rate, the Rangers may be able to take a few players off in the future.”
Already three goal contributions

Rangers signed three players in January, and they have all had a significant influence thus far.

The team’s hiring practices under Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen appear to be significantly better than they were under Mick Beale.
