BREAKING NEWS: Phoenix man, 75, arrested in 42-year-old Kansas city chiefs’ killing.
HUTCHINSON, Kansas – Following a multistate investigation, a Phoenix man has been transported to Kansas to face charges in connection with a 42-year-old killing.
In a news release, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation stated that Jerry Allen, 75, was admitted to the Reno County Jail in Kansas on Wednesday.
In late January, agents obtained an arrest warrant for him and took him into custody in Phoenix for the murder of Michael McKeown, 44, in March 1982. He was taken to Kansas after agreeing to forego extradition.
Investigators think that while McKeown‘s car was parked in the lot outside his Hutchinson apartment, he was shot and killed inside. The KBI reported his body was discovered the following day.
According to the KBI, agents carried out a number of significant interviews across three states, which produced the extra proof required to press charges in this unsolved case.
The KBI said he will be formally charged Friday when he makes his first appearance.
