Celtic want to break transfer record to sign SPFL star ahead of Rangers
Celtic want to sign Aberdeen star Bojan Miovski ahead of Rangers in January but any deal would be a Scottish record, according to The Sun.
The news agency claims on their website (December 6) that Celtic has identified the North Macedonia forward as their top January target.
However, the Dons will seek a transfer fee more than the record £4.4 million for a transaction involving two Scottish teams.
Celtic is also considering a move for the striker who has scored 11 goals so far this season, but it’s doubtful that they will be able to finance it,
so their interest is unlikely to go further at this time.
They stated, “Celtic is considering a January move for Aberdeen’s top scorer Bojan Miovski.”
“However, the Premiership leaders will need to pay a record amount to acquire the Pittodrie striker.
SunSport is aware that Dons intend to demand the largest transfer price ever paid by two Scottish teams.
“They consider 24 year old Miovski to be worth more than the £4.4 million Celtics paid Hibs for Scott Brown back in 2007.
“”Rangers have been monitoring the prolific marksman as well,
but it’s doubtful that they have the resources to pursue this further.”
The fact that Rangers now has four first-team attackers on the roster—
three of whom joined the squad less than six months ago—and that we’re looking to add a forward is somewhat embarrassing.
Under Michael Beale, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have been a complete catastrophe,
and Kemar Roofe is still struggling with the injuries that have dogged his Ibrox career.
Although Danilo has performed better, there are still some doubts about the Brazilian,
and we cannot afford to be short on attackers given the competitive nature of the title battle,
which has been particularly intense since our bad start to the season.
Miovski has a fantastic track record in Scotland,
and Celtic will only get stronger with him joining the team. However,
our inability to compete in the market is a testament to how awful things have been for us.
It’s unfortunate that we’ve been put in this situation,
but Clement will know what he wants and how much money to spend by the summer.
