Fabio Silva’s father has expected him to return to Rangers for the 2024/25 season as he tries to settle down with a club.

The Wolves striker moved to Ibrox on loan for the remainder of the season

in January in quest of more regular first-team action,

and he scored his first goal for the club in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Livingston.

And, in an interview with the Sunday Mail, as reported by the Glasgow Times (4 February),

his father Jorge conceded that anything might happen in the next four months,

implying that a return to Ibrox is possible if he starts the season strong.

“We have a long contract with Wolves but Fabio has to settle down somewhere,” he told reporters.

“Is it possible that Fabio will continue at Rangers next season if he performs well,

even on loan? I believe so, certainly. Listen, in four months, a lot may happen.

“But I hope Rangers win the championship this season, which would be fantastic for both the club and Fabio.

“Fabio has a strong desire to play in the Champions League.”

He is currently in need of professional continuity.

If the Rangers are pleased with him, and the final say will undoubtedly go to the Wolves, why not?

“My advise to Fabio is to give his all for this enormous club,

do anything he can to help his team and  the coach – and make the supporters happy.

If everyone is happy at the end of the season, why couldn’t he go back to Rangers?”

Never say never to Rangers.

It is far too early in his Ibrox career to make a judgment,

and no one knows what Philippe Clement and Rangers have planned for the summer window.

But stranger things have happened at Ibrox in previous years,

and if Silva hits the ground running and scores the goals that propel us to number 56,

you’d be hard pushed to find someone who doesn’t want him back for next season.

Wolves have recently spent a lot of money on attackers, including Silva,

but if he isn’t going to play regularly, he will undoubtedly want to stay, and we would be delighted to have him.

But that all hinges on him achieving goals and fitting in,

because everyone associated with Rangers was similarly excited about the signing of Jose Cifuentes in the summer

and that’s gone to pot already with a move to Brazil set to be confirmed in the coming days.

There’s no rush to make a choice, and both sides will go through a lot before it happens in the summer,

but these comments suggest that things are going well for the time being, and he’s open to it,

so it’s definitely something to think about.
