Celtic are apparently planning a double raid for a tall defender and an international midfielder, hoping to outbid several Premier League clubs.

The Hoops will aim for a successful summer in the transfer market after a season that has not always gone as planned under Brendan Rodgers, with them trailing Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title battle.

One interesting rumour is that Kieran Tierney will return at the conclusion of the season, after his stint at Arsenal has become increasingly frustrating. He is currently on loan at Real Sociedad, but he could take advantage of the opportunity to reunite with Parkhead and secure a permanent move.

Meanwhile, Celtic loanee Adam Idah, who has made a strong effect since signing in January, might make a permanent move to the club during the summer transfer window.

Another statement signing may be Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been linked with a transfer to the Hoops as he aims to be a No.1 away from Anfield this summer. According to a fresh rumor from HITC, Celtic want to sign both Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl, who are presently playing for Rapid Vienna. The Hoops will face stiff competition from Premier League club Crystal Palace, with new manager Oliver Glasner said to be “interested” in signing them.

According to the article, “Fulham, Burnley, Wolves, and Leicester have also watched both players in action”. Querfeld and Seidl may not be as well-known as Tierney and Kelleher, but they could be wise additions to Celtic’s squad in the summer.

The former is a big 6 foot 3 defender who has made 20 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga this season and 20 caps for Austria at the junior level, although he has yet to make his professional debut.

Seidl, 23, is a little more seasoned than his 20-year-old partner, and he has five league goals to his name this season, showing his midfield production. Unlike his colleague, he has three caps for Austria’s senior team and could provide quality and depth to Rodgers’ midfield.

The intensity of Premier League interest will almost certainly make it tough to recruit both Querfeld and Seidl, given the allure of playing in arguably the world’s largest league, but Celtic are a massive club in their own right and, unlike others, could provide the pair Champions League football.
