However, going into the 2024 season, there is a lot of confidence surrounding the organisation. In fact, Harry Douglas, an ESPN analyst, thinks the Lions pose the biggest threat to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

“When I look at this team and you look at Jared Goff at the quarterback position, he understands what it takes to beat a guy like Patrick Mahomes,” Douglas stated.

“Yes, they did it on Thursday night during the season’s opening game. We recognise that the Chiefs had two significant holes in their roster—Travis Kelce and Chris Jones.

However, I’m going to flash back to his time with the Los Angeles Rams and that shootout they had with Patrick Mahomes and company.

Because Jared Goff has faced Patrick Mahomes on a few occasions in his career, he is aware of the need to maintain composure when playing against him.

The Lions have proven to be a formidable offensive unit that can come out on top. This team has a lot of qualities that make it the favourite to compete for a championship in 2024.

“They have a lot of cap space right now to be able to work with and add to what they have within their puzzle, add more pieces,” Douglas said. “I think they’re going to be able to Draft well this season.”

In response, co-host Mina Kimes stated that the Lions have a lot of challenges in keeping their roster’s calibre of talent high. Kimes did concede, though, that the company is now doing well.
