Gijs Smal of FC Twente is expected to be available on a free transfer in the summer, and Celtic is considering a move for the left-back.

According to 1908.nl, Brendan Rodgers’ team is one of numerous interested parties in the defender when his contract expires.

They clarify that there is plenty of interest in the 26-year-old and that he is prepared for the next phase of his career. In fact, Celtic’s rivals Rangers have expressed interest in signing him during the January transfer window.

However, they must first sell Borna Barišić or Ridvan Yilmaz. Celtic has expressed interest in him and has already informed him of “what they can offer.”
