Ibrox Latest:Rangers set to sign a new star who will cost €4.6M
Rangers are still on track to complete their title comeback and secure the Scottish Premiership in remarkable fashion
under Philippe Clement, having survived last weekend’s scare thanks to Celtic’s slip. It’s the type of fright they’ll want
to avoid in the future, though, with a move to sign a Championship player already planned to improve the squad
further this summer.
Rangers Transfer News
If Rangers win the Scottish Premiership this season, they will be well-positioned to bring in key players ahead of
Clement’s first full season in command. It is the type of pull that Celtic have frequently utilized in previous years to
usher in spells of supremacy in Scottish football, and it is one that the Gers will now want to capitalize on.
However, in recent weeks, possible departures have captured the most of the headlines in terms of Rangers transfer
news, rather than arrivals. As it stands, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, Leon Balogun, and Borna Barisic are among the
players poised to leave Ibrox when their contracts expire this summer. Meanwhile, Rangers are allegedly prioritizing
a new agreement for John Lundstram in order to prevent losing the midfielder.
Despite the topic of prospective exits, the rumour mill has already begun about incomings. According to Carlton
Palmer, Rangers are interested in signing Callum O’Hare from Coventry City, who will be a free agent at the
conclusion of the season.
Palmer told Football League World: “One guy who has received a lot of notice is Callum O’Hare. Three La Liga clubs
are looking into him. Celtic and Rangers are also reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old.
“He has yet to sign a new contract with Coventry, and his present term is slated to expire in the summer. He’s had a
tremendous season, and with only a few games left, he’s unlikely to sign a new contract.”
Palmer went on to state, “He was offered a new contract, and a nice one at that, but he wants to keep his option open
until the end of the season. Unless they get promoted to the Premier League, I believe Callum O’Hare will play his
football elsewhere next season.”
“Outstanding” O’Hare can pursue the Cantwell path.
As his contract with Coventry expires, O’Hare has the option to follow in the footsteps of Todd Cantwell, who left the
Championship for Scotland in January of last year when he moved from Norwich City to Rangers. The Gers appear
to be exploring a transfer to O’Hare this summer, when they return to the Championship in need of reinforcements.
Following his season at Coventry, interest from Ibrox is unsurprising.
O’Hare, at 25, is entering his prime years as an attacking midfielder, which means Rangers would be getting a good
deal if they were able to sign the Coventry man on a free transfer this summer.
