A Bola reports that violent altercations between Rangers supporters and Benfica supporters occurred in Lisbon prior to the team’s Europa League match on Thursday, March 7.

The Portuguese news source shared a video on Twitter on Thursday that purportedly showed Gers supporters fighting with Atalanta supporters following their team’s Wednesday (6 March) match.

According to The Scottish Sun, some Light Blues supporters were attacked by an Italian ultra gang outside a hotel in the capital of Portugal.

Since it conveys the exact wrong message, most true football fans don’t want to witness scenarios like this in the game.

British clubs frequently experience attacks on their supporters when they travel to Europe, and it seems from the accounts that this happened in Lisbon as well.

The club will not want to see this, even though the Gers supporters might not have been malicious before they were attacked.
The Light Blues’ match versus Benfica should be the main emphasis, but this incident can overshadow what should be a spectacular game in the Portuguese city.

We really do not want to see situations like this associated with our sport, so hopefully there aren’t any more before or after the game this evening.
