‘He’ll be the one’: Ajax Amsterdam considering Rangers Gaffer as potential fit for managerial job

Rangers picked Philippe Clement over Pascal Jansen last year, and the former AZ Alkmaar manager could soon return to the Eredivisie stage with Ajax

Manager Rangers looked at now has ‘a good chance’ of getting the Ajax job

That is according to Valentijn Driessen, a Dutch football journalist who is well-versed in the inner workings of the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Pascal Jansen, who was apparently considered by Rangers following Mick Beale’s dismissal in late-2023,

is still out of job after talks with Olympiakos did not result in a transfer to the Greek superpower.

Driessen believes Jansen will not be out of employment for long.

Not with Ajax looking for a new head coach and the Amsterdam kingmakers heaping plaudits on a guy

who led AZ to consecutive top-four finishes as well as the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

Rangers looked at the former AZ Alkmaar manager

“I think Pascal Jansen has a good chance,” Driessen says during the Vandaag Inside show. “Because now it’s all ‘AZ within Ajax’.”

According to Driessen, Alex Kroes, Marijn Beuker, and the renowned Louis van Gaal will all play important roles in deciding

who will be Ajax’s next manager.

Meanwhile, all three had previously worked for AZ Alkmaar.

“It’s all AZ, and they have all worked with Pascal Jansen,” the correspondent says.

“They’re all crazy about what occurs at AZ. So there is a significant probability he will be the one.

Jansen, like Beale, lost his job following a bad start to the current season.

However, unlike Beale, the 51-year-old London native emerged with his reputation intact.

There remains tremendous praise for the way he inherited the reigns at AZ following the unexpected departure of Arne Slot,

the incumbent Eredivisie-winning head coach with Feyenoord  – and maintained his predecessor’s success.

Philippe Clement has the Rangers aiming high.

“That Rangers talk surprised me,” Jansen told Sky Sports in October, a few months before being released by the Alkmaar club.

“It flatters me, of course, because Rangers are a massive club and I have dreams and ambitions.”

Currently leading the Scottish Premiership, and with a Europa League last-16 match against Benfica on Thursday,

few at Ibrox will be regretting the choice to give over the reins to Philippe Clement.
