HOOPS REVIEW: As SFA battles Celtic, holding back is no longer an option.
As expected, the Scottish FA has charged Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, for comments he made
at Tynecastle on Sunday after Celtic’s 2-0 loss to Hearts.
Given that the hearing is set for March 28th, Rodgers will surely have to miss the Glasgow Derby at Ibrox on April 6th.
The upshot of all this is that, at last, Celtic might be prepared to take on the Scottish FA over their prejudice and preference
towards the various Ibrox sides. In this game, Celtic will play defence for the boss to the hilt.
If found guilty as charged, Brendan will likely miss the vital trip to Ibrox one week later and the away games against
Livingston at the end of the month. Celtic’s appeal against Yang’s red card was rejected by the
Scottish FA as a result of John Beaton’s intervention to reofficiate the game.
The midfielder will now miss two games as the Scottish FA and Celtic face each other.
It’s time we took the fight to them, Celtic. Maybe they could start by making a link between the Scottish
FA’s Five Way Agreement and the Rangers’ treatment.
The chairman of Celtic, Peter Lawwell, has continuously denied knowing anything about the arrangement,
so maybe he ought to read it. Peter, you are aware, as we all know.
The Celts’ gentle, gentle approach has not succeeded. Because of this, the Celtic manager will be separated
from his team both before kickoff and long after the Ibrox Glasgow Derby in April.
Even if no one at all agrees with The Rangers’ John Beaton’s suggestion to make up a penalty for Hearts on Sunday,
Beaton has hit paydirt with this one.
Referee John Beaton sent the Rangers fan to inspect his monitor after first showing Yang the yellow card and after
Robertson, along with everyone else watching the game, saw nothing special about the Tomoki Iwata jump.
As a result, Yang was handed a red card in addition to the yellow card Celtic had initially given him.
Not a single thing Brendan Rodgers said when he called out John Beaton was false,
yet instead of sticking up for Beaton, these people will support Rodgers.
In case you forgot what Brendan said:
“I try to respect their opinions and give them the benefit of the doubt. But I think that’s what concerns me about the game
when I see that kind of—well, incompetence, if you will. That could be the deciding factor in a title this specific.
Furthermore, I don’t think VAR is the problem in this case. That much is clear. It’s expertise.
“The first one is the sending off without force. The head will definitely be near to the foot if you display a still image of that,
but that isn’t how the action truly occurs. Don really did get it right on the pitch. It was a high boot,
thus it’s a yellow card without any intent or force.
“John Beaton really looked at that in VAR, seemingly without any pressure, and that was sending off?
I find that to be astounding.
“The second one is terrible. If you have one against you for that, there will be penalties every weekend and every midweek.
The Scottish FA, represented by panellist John Beaton and a compliance officer, has launched their own campaign,
so holding back is no longer an option.
