Rangers Europa League squad ahead of Benfica test, three changes were made
Here is a reminder of the 22-man Rangers squad submitted at the beginning of February for the Europa League knockout phase.
And it all begins on Thursday night at the Estadio da Luz against Benfica as Rangers want to continue their incredible Europa League record and advance to the quarterfinals for the second time in two years.
According to UEFA regulations, Philippe Clement was able to make three changes to the starting lineup that Michael Beale selected, and that team went on to qualify from Group C.
Two more players were added to the knockout phase roster in January.
Oscar Cortes, Danilo, and Kieran Dowell, for example, are completely left out.

Philippe Clement made just one change to the defensive lineup,
choosing to start the quickly developing Ridvan Yilmaz.
Yilmaz and central defender Leon Balogun,
who had already been excluded from Michael Beale’s initial list of players for the group stage,
had to be chosen by the Belgian.
Rangers will only have three starting center backs going into the knockout stages,
but they will have the option to use Leon King, who is on the B list.

Todd Cantwell
When José Cifuentes was loaned out to Cruzeiro in Brazil in January,
Mohamed Diomande, a recent Ibrox acquisition, was able to take his place in the European squad.
The Ivorian made four appearances for FC Nordsjaelland in the Europa Conference League last season, his first experience playing at the Europa League level.

Due to a significant knee injury suffered by Brazilian striker Danilo,
January loanee Fabio Silva is his obvious replacement.
Even though Kemar Roofe and Abdallah Sima have frustrating injury concerns of their own, they are also part of the team.
injury list for Rangers before Benfica
While selecting a 22-man roster for the Europa League knockout stages is all well and good,
Philippe Clement must deal with a number of injury concerns.
There is good news in the goalkeeping and defensive departments,
but offensive midfielder Todd Cantwell will be sidelined up the field because of a muscle ailment.
Despite their sporadic injury problems, Ryan Jack and Tom Lawrence are currently well enough to participate in the opening leg at Estadio da Luz.
Due to the recent injuries to Abdallah Sima and Rabbi Matondo,
the Rangers are also lacking in forward depth. Nevertheless,
after missing the last few games, the Welshman might be nearing a comeback.
