First round of the Cowboys Draft is exclusive. One for Tyler Biadasz instead?

FRISCO: Due to losses in free agency, the Dallas Cowboys may need to address a number of gaps on the roster. While some of those slots might be filled through free market acquisitions, others might be selected in the NFL Draft in April. The necessity for Dallas to bolster their offensive line this offseason has been discussed extensively. Tyler Biadasz, the center, and tackles Tyron Smith and Chuma Edoga are all free agents.

Jackson Powers-Johnson of Oregon is a draft pick who has the makings of a few of the league’s best centers.

Powers-Johnson, who made an impression at the Senior Bowl,

is regarded by many observers as one of the best center prospects in the 2018 draft.

He was a starter for the Ducks for just one season,

but he proved he could be a factor by playing on Sundays by being selected a consensus All-American the previous year.

By no means is Powers-Johnson a polished talent,

and you want a first-round choice who can start playing right away.

Powers-Johnson is projected by some draft experts to start the 2024 season in Week 1,

and Dallas could use his upgrade at center.

Though other players in front of him declined to go,

Biadasz does have a selection to the Pro Bowl to his resume.

The Cowboys believe he has reached his ceiling, and they may be correct,

if they choose to replace him by not placing a high bid on him in free agency.

Although Powers-Johnson is regarded by some as an early second-round potential,

Dallas has a history of selecting a player sooner if they feel he’s their guy.
