Fresh update on reported £6m Premier League attacker has Rangers “very pleased”
Abdallah Sima, a Brighton loanee, is “expecting” to contribute to the season’s championship run-in as his injury recuperation is
“going well.”
David Edgar, the host of Heart & Hand and a former media partner of the Rangers,
stated as much on the platform’s most recent Daily Update (05/03).
providing an update on the club’s injury situation.
Abdallah Sima, who led Ibrox in goals scored throughout the first half of the season, has not been seen since suffering a horrific injury
while representing Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Abdallah Sima on course for injury return
Regarding Abdallah Sima’s injury status, David Edgar says the Rangers are pleased with the development of the 22-year-old.
Philippe Clement had stated that it would take the player two to three months to recover from his injury back in January, but it looks like he is right on schedule.
David Edgar stated, “Abdallah Sima’s recovery from his injury is going well.” “I’m not sure when,
but I would expect to see him this season.
“I don’t think you can really put a time or a date on it at the moment because his recovery is going really well
and they’re very pleased with it.
They do anticipate having him available this season. I’m not sure if it will happen this month, but let’s hope he can at least contribute
to Rangers in the last stretch.
Abdallah Sima was acquired by Rangers on a season-long loan from Brighton, a Premier League team who had paid almost £6 million
to acquire the forward in 2021 from Slavia Prague.
Rangers and the player’s camp are hearing that he wants to move permanently to Glasgow, and a successful season finale might
persuade Ibrox management to make the necessary financial commitment.
Rangers’ medical problems persist
Not only did David Edgar provide an update on Abdallah Sima’s injury on Heart & Hand,
but he also talked about Danilo, Rabbi Matondo, and Ross McCausland.
This season, Rangers have been plagued by a number of well-publicized injury issues that have continued despite Philippe Clement’s
best efforts to alter the team’s fortunes.
David Edgar declared, “Danilo is back, but at the very, very early stages.” He’s back training, I suppose, but for now he’s simply working with weights.
He still has a long way to go, and I don’t think we’ll see him return anytime soon.
“The manager stated that Matondo probably won’t be seen this week, but he’s close, so I would anticipate seeing him before the international break.”
“We’ll probably hear about Ross McCausland at the (pre-Benfica) press conference; no word yet.”
