Falcons: Could quarterbacks go 1-4 in the NFL Draft?

The Falcons quarterback issue is a popular topic of discussion in Atlanta sports. Everyone is curious about who will be under centre in 2024, and that information may become available in the coming week or so.

Falcons: Could quarterbacks go 1-4 in the NFL Draft?

Kirk Cousins appears to be a real possibility based on all of the allegations, but there’s also a potential he may be using the Falcons as leverage to pressure the Vikings into giving him a larger contract.

Of course, Justin Fields is still a possibility, and Baker Mayfield might be considered as a backup.

The NFL Draft comes next. It would seem that the Falcons would contemplate choosing a quarterback by the end of April, regardless of what transpires before the selection;

yet, if they want to be in the top four, it might require a big move up the board.

One general manager told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini that it’s highly likely quarterbacks select in the first four picks of the NFL Draft.

Russini writes, “I was blown away by Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon’s support of Kyler Murray.” Murray is obviously their guy.

Hearing a coach act as though he is in love with his quarterback is always entertaining.

Cardinals willing to trade back

Some in the NFL think the Cardinals are willing to trade back after selecting fourth overall in the draft.

With the first four selections, may we see four quarterbacks selected? “Absolutely,” a general manager exclaimed to me.

When it comes to the Falcons this upcoming draft, J.J. McCarthy might be the most interesting possibility.

In addition to being a possibility when Atlanta has the eighth pick available, if a team develops a strong interest in him during the first three rounds, the Falcons may be able to make a trade with the Cardinals in order to acquire either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, assuming the Bears select Caleb Williams first overall.

That used to sound like a pipe dream, but after the NFL Combine, McCarthy is getting a lot of attention. It will be years before we know if it was a wise decision, but NFL clubs frequently make dubious choices at this time of year.
