Oscar Cortes, a winger for the Rangers, said that surgery to repair a muscular ailment was a “success,” and a Colombian journalist

expressed optimism that the young player would be able to play this season.

The 20-year-old winger hobbled off Kilmarnock’s contentious Rugby Park field last week after Rangers defeated Derek McInnes’

squad 2-1 while holding his hamstring.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement then rocked fans with news that the injury is “severe”

although there was no initial timescale given on his recovery.

Signed on a loan-to-buy from RC Lens in the January transfer window,

the injury situation had cast doubts that Oscar Cortes would ever play for Rangers again.

Oscar Cortes: surgery on injury a “success”

Now, Oscar Cortes has taken to Instagram to claim that surgery on the muscle injury went to plan with his focus now on returning to the Ibrox fold as quickly as possible.

Sharing an image from a hospital bed, the winger accompanied the snap with the following caption, which has been translated from Spanish:

“Everything was a success thanks to God, we will be back soon 🙏💙🤍”

While we wish Oscar Cortes the best of luck throughout his recuperation from surgery and return from injury, the post has

unavoidably raised expectations that Rangers will see the winger once more this season.

Could Rangers see Colombian winger this season?

Although Oscar Cortes may miss up to three months of play due to an injury,

Philippe Clement was reluctant to provide an estimated time frame.

But there are rising expectations that the young player can contribute to the team this season due to the Instagram post and certain

remarks made by Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra.

Oscar Cortes will be sidelined for two months due to a “posterior” muscle problem,

according to a post made by Sierra on the social media platform X.

The Colombian journalist also suggested that whilst the winger remains an RC Lens player, Rangers will supervise Cortes’s recovery after an initial consultation with the Ligue 1 club.

Oscar Cortes left Colombian team FC Millonarios for RC Lens in the summer in a reputed €4.5 million (£3.8 million) transfer, but things haven’t gone as planned in France.

The South American attacker, who the Rangers acquired in January, has had a great start to his Ibrox career. In seven games, he has scored once and provided two assists.
