Celtic Release Tuesday Night Statement – As SFA welcome Celtic with derogatory statement
Hoops has publicly expressed disappointment with the SFA’s decision to refuse its appeal against Hyun-Jun Yang’s red card.
In a statement posted on Tuesday night, the club expressed surprise and deep regret with the verdict,
which upheld Yang’s two-match punishment for a controversial incident in a previous encounter against Hearts.
The statement read: “We have received notice that the club’s claim has been dismissed.
“Clearly we are surprised and extremely disappointed at this decision.”
The incident in issue included Yang receiving a red card for a high boot on Alex Cochrane,
which drew significant debate and condemnation, particularly from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers’ criticism of the judgment, particularly his harsh statements about John Beaton’s involvement in the VAR process,
emphasized the club’s dissatisfaction with officiating and the usage of VAR in the league.
Despite the club’s efforts to get the red card overturned through an expedited appeal process,
the SFA’s decision to dismiss the claim means Celtic will play Livingston and St Johnstone without Yang’s participation on the field.
